What if AI is not about replacing you, but about unlocking what is already inside you?

In this episode of Adventures in Business, Amani and Mandi sit down with Rob Cressy, entrepreneur, coach, and AI strategist helping leaders and creators use AI to grow with intention. Rob shares how he went from running a sports marketing agency to becoming an early adopter of ChatGPT, building an AI-driven business by focusing on mindset, creativity, and real-world application.

Meet Rob Cressy

Rob Cressy is an entrepreneur, creator, speaker, and AI coach helping business leaders use AI without losing the human side of what makes them unique. Before stepping into the AI world, Rob spent years building a sports marketing agency and creating content around sports, fantasy sports, and betting.

But when COVID shut down the sports world, Rob found himself at a crossroads. Instead of staying in the same lane, he leaned into coaching, personal development, and eventually AI. And when ChatGPT launched in late 2022, Rob immediately realized something big was happening. “Within the first minute of using it, I felt like I used the internet for the first time,” Rob said.

The Biggest AI Misconception

According to Rob, the biggest thing stopping people from using AI well has nothing to do with technology.

“I don’t have a tech background. I’m not a coder.”

That fear, Rob says, is exactly what keeps people stuck.

Instead of focusing on what they are not, he encourages people to focus on curiosity, experimentation, and taking action.

His advice?

  • Get your first 20 hours in

  • Start using it every day

  • Stop waiting to feel “ready”

  • Learn by doing

“You earn your confidence from experience,” Rob explained.

Why Personalization Changes Everything

One of the biggest takeaways from the episode was Rob’s emphasis on personalization inside AI platforms like ChatGPT and Claude.

Most people, he says, are barely scratching the surface because they never teach AI who they are.

That means adding:

  • your tone

  • your goals

  • your communication style

  • your values

  • your personality

  • your brand voice

“There’s one thing AI will never have,” Rob said. “Soul.” The goal is not to sound more robotic. The goal is to make AI sound more like you.

AI Should Make You More Human, Not Less

One of the strongest themes throughout the conversation was Rob’s belief that the people who win in the AI era will actually become more human. While many people fear AI replacing creativity, Rob sees it differently. “If you love to do something, let AI amplify it,” he said.

That became especially clear during a conversation about music, live performance, and authenticity. Amani pointed out that some of the most powerful moments in music happen because humans are imperfect. A cracked voice or emotional performance can create something AI never could. Rob agreed, but emphasized that creators should still embrace the tools available to them instead of fearing them.

The Most Unexpected AI Use Case

Ironically, one of Rob’s favorite AI stories had nothing to do with business. He shared how he uses ChatGPT with his young son to create imaginary characters before bedtime. One night, his son asked him to create a character called “Mud Mud in Mud.”

The result became an ongoing family joke and bonding experience.

That story perfectly captured Rob’s bigger message:AI is not just about productivity.

It can also create imagination, creativity, connection, and fun.
